It's a little rough but for a car that's been sitting for 20 years and the 200 dollars that I paid for it I'm not complaining.
Car fired right up with some gas down the carb but the tank pickup was plugged with varnish. Cleaned the tank out and fixed that and adjsuted the rockers and once I get back from supper I'm going to fire it up |

You might think it a little rough but just remember all diamonds start that way! $200 for a runner - looks like s pretty good deal to me. Look forward to following the progress |

Good score! From the brake pedal and the console escutcheon around the shifter I bet that car was originally an auto.
Good luck with the resto. |

yeah apparently it was originally an auto, it'll most likely see a 302/toploader combo because T5s around here are worth more than gold IE salvage yard wants 1000 bucks for a v8 t5. I didn't see a bucktag underhood for the codes for the car. But today I got it to run under it's own power for the first time in 20 years. Then the float on the carb stuck/was stuck and it died lol. BUT it ran and with the rockers adjusted it sounded good. If I get it far enough along today before the insurance place closes I'll put temp insurance on it and take it for a ride. Look forward to lots more pictures and videos along the way of my build.
Plans for the car are as follows V8/Toploader swap Projector headlight with HID kit(Already ordered, gotta have good lights) Hood scoop and spoiler Homebrew front air dam Upgraded shocks Either poly bushings all around or I'll get some fancy control arms 4 pot caliper upgrade(I got a set I haven't used yet) - Does anyone know of an 11inch rotor that maintains the 4 bolt pattern? Slight update to the interior, like power windows and possibly a carputer but we'll see.
My goal with this car is to just have a v8 rwd car I can just hop in and drive anywhere and flog the crap out of it without giving me trouble. I'm building it to just beat up on when I don't feel like riding my ninja. My dad had one when I was a kid and since then I've always wanted one. I remember riding in it as we were towing it home, I haven't felt at home like that in a car in a long long time.
Can't wait to be driving it and I'll update you guys along the way |

| Well took it for it's first spin around the block today, still ticks a bit but I figure I might need to change that 20 year old oil LOL. However biggest grin I've had in a long time just driving it around. Tomorrow have to replace pretty much every exterior light and figure out if I've got blown bulbs or fuses but I'm having a blast just getting it ready :) |

Nice find...especially a T-Top with good floors!
I'm thinking about thew 11"/4-lug rotor issue also. I haven't seen anything yet. The quickest path is probably to take a set of early Granada 11" rotors to a machinest and have them redrilled for the 4-lug pattern. Years ago I came across a guy that had Baer Racing make him a set of 4-lug rotors and hubs. Another possibility would be to use the rotors from a '90's Contour/Mystique(?) along with Baer, Wilwood, or cut down MII hubs
In any case you need at least a 15" wheel to cover them. |

Well it's now extra fun because apparently the headgaskets were blown LOL sooo looks like it'll be getting that v8 sooner. Bought headers today and picking up that toploader on saturday. Tomorrow is cleaning the interior and what not. HOWEVER I loved the 2 hours I got to drive the thing today. It was great and honestly I haven't been as excited about a car since I was 15.5 putting my first daytona Shelby Z back together.
So I'm cleaning it up all pretty and nice and fixing my missing interior lights. Pictures to follow tomorrow with how I'm cleaning the bitch and installing my temp gauge, oil pressure and volt gauge. I'm happy with the way this thing is. Seriously the floor is rediculously solid everywhere and the t-tops don't leak which is extra sweet! I love this car sooo much and can't wait to show my dad (who I haven't seen in like **** it's been like 8 years now) who had one when I was kid and I remember sitting in the car and saying I'd have like it someday.
NOW to find me a v8 to stuff in there haha |
