1975 MUSTANG II
IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mustang II, which doubled its sales in 1974 when it was all-new, adds V-8 power for 1975
The Mustang II Ghia, equipped with a new opera window, half vinyl roof and the V-8, is reminiscent of the 1956 Thunderbird with its saucy design and responsiveness on the road.
The original Thunderbird with the 312 V-8 became a classic in the Fifties because it was unique. Now Mustang II has started a class of its own in the Seventies with a design that combines sport flair with luxury and excellent fuel economy with quickness.
The '75 Mustang II Ghia and the '56 Thunderbird are very close in wheelbase, overall length and width, yet Mustang II is 340 pounds lighter than the early Thunderbird.
Fuel economy and performance levels also are close, even though the Mustang II has emission control equipment to meet the 1975 Federal standards. Mustang II has other advantages, including a back seat compartment, major technical improvements, and increased comfort and luxury appointments not available in the 1950's.
In addition to the 302 V-8 engine, Mustang II in 1975 has steel-belted radial-ply tires and solid state ignition as standard equipment, and optional three and one-half gallon auxiliary fuel tank, and new appearance and trim ideas.
The four Mustang II models are the 2-door Hardtop, Ghia, 3-door 2 + 2 and the Mach 1.
Appearance changes include a new grille with a larger eggcrate pattern, new hood, and valance panel. To accomodate the V-8 engine, the radiator was moved forward three inches, the radiator support was revised, and the number two crossmember and side rails were strengthened.
The grille was moved forward almost flush with the grille opening, and the leading edge of the hood was raised about one-half inch for the V-8 engine.
The Ghia will have a new opera window adjacent to the "B" pillar and a choice of a full or half vinyl roof.
A Silver Luxury Group will be offered as an exclusive option for the Mustang II Ghia. The option will include silver exterior paint, unique silver padded half vinyl roof, bodyside paint stripes, Mustang II hood ornament, and a cranberry interior with crushed velour seat trim and a full console.
Among interior refinements are a new corporate steering wheel and a new roof-mounted map light added to the Light Group. The luxury in Mustang II's interior carries over from 1974, with standard vinyl bucket seats, cut-pile carpeting on the floor and lower door, full instrumentation with tachometer, fuel, anmeter and temperature gauges, and simulated burled walnut woodtone accents on the instrument panel, shift handle and parking brake.
The 302 V-8 engine is available only with three-speed automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. Other new options are: cast spoke aluminum wheels, the auxiliary 3.5-gallon fuel tank (standard with the 302 V-8 engine), and 195/70 R13 steel-belted radial-ply tires.
The competition suspension features heavy duty springs, adjustable shock absorbers and a rear stabilizer bar.
